Nancy Owens: Testimonials

Wow Nancy…I love the “new format”…very impressive!!!!. I always look forward to your weekly emails. Your ‘insight” and commentary consistently amazes me. One of the best things I ever did for myself is sign up, as a true, “nervous novice”, for the adult ed yoga class about 4 years ago. How fortunate for me that you were the teacher. Your encouragement and non judgment kept me going. You’ve exposed me to a discipline I knew nothing about, and along the way, I met some very lovely people. Thank you for infectious laugh, your wonderful sense of humor, your honesty and for opening my eyes, my ears and my heart!

Love,

Bernice

Re: The November Retreat at Little Portion Friary

Hi Nancy,

I just wanted to let you know what a nice time I had on Saturday. I was rushing around in the morning, worried about finding the place and getting there on time but then I just took a deep breath and said I want this to be a relaxing day (and it was).

I had never been to a retreat before, I had never been to a friary ( I wasn't even sure what it was), I never heard the Rosh Hashanah prayer (which I loved), and I had never done kundalini yoga, so within the first half hour of being there I was experiecing all these new and wonderful things. The rest of the day was also filled with new and fun experiences.

One thing that really affected me was when we were chanting in the morning. I didn't know the chant and I felt a little out of place but I really felt like everyone was chanting for me and that was a moving experience.

Another memorable moment was before we started to chant with Rosita she had set out a little altar with a picture of her parents and godmother. I thought as a parent could there be anything more special than that. What an honor for her parents and what a special daughter. I will have that image with me forever.

I think the whole reason the day was so loving is because of the chemistry between you and Celeste. Just the love and respect you have for each other and for us, yoga and the good of the planet just envelops each of us.

When I was driving home I was thinking if I didn't go to the retreat, I would have probably spent most of the day cleaning and running errands, not a very memorable Saturday, but instead I will always have these memories.

Thank you,

Cheryl

Vsit to E-Team Northport, H.S.

Just wanted to thank you again for coming in on Friday. The kids were "buzzing"
about it all afternoon. Today we were discussing the caffeine laced beverages that
are so popular with kids, and one young man said, "the yoga lady said non-violence to yourself and others, so those drinks are inflicting violence on yourself."

You never know who you'll touch!

Partner Yoga 2/07

Hi Nancy--Im sorry I missed the partner yoga--I heard it was very healing both physically and emotionally. I would like to register for the May 12, Mothers Day Retreat Yoga, My dear friend Joanne shared with me a saying you taught yesterday--"Greed equals injury". This resonated with me in so many ways, and using it has already saved me some pain today. I thank you for all the teaching you give to all. Looking forward to the Mothers Day Retreat. Sincerely, Rebekah Alpert-Miller. . Thank you so much!

Hi Nancy,
I just wanted to wish you a great vacation. I also wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you. Your class has helped me so much. Hearing you read material of Thich Nhat Hanh opened me up to start meditating again. The past few years have been challenging for me and I have added meditating to my tools. I just also want to say I see so much of the child like wonder and spirit in you, your joy and laughter is inspiring. So go play and have a joyful time to help keep your light shining.

Thank you for such a lovely day. You put a lot of work into planning the program and I feel it was well choreographed. I especially appreciate the extras: lunch, party favors and chanting with Rosita.
I felt very comfortable in your studio - usually I am self conscious and awkward at yoga sessions, being a novice, but the atmosphere was very secure and safe to me. I want to thank you for the positive feedback at the end - so rare these days. All in all, an outstanding job, in my humble opinion. I would recommend your workshops to anyone who might be interested.

Teacher Training Workshops

2002
While I was waiting for your restorative yoga class to start, I noticed that you taught both restorative and children's yoga and I wondered how anyone could teach what appears to be two such diverse types of classes. Well, after yesterday, I can see how you can successfully do both! Your children's yoga teacher's training class was wonderful. I had a great time and I am going to see if the adults in my class tonight are up for doing some
"children's yoga for adults." We'll see if they are up to tapping into their inner child.

I had to write and let you know that I had a wonderful time at the Children's Yoga Workshop you presented in Queens with Mokshapriya and Marianne. You are truly talented and offer much insight into the minds of children. I really thought I was in Disneyland! I was amazed to see the love and passion that you have for yoga and it not only inspired me to work hard towards my goals but delighted me that you have so much love for my country. If at any time you need any assistance with Indian culture, I will be gald to help.
