Nancy,
It was so wonderful of you to have the fundraiser for Amy and her husband. You not only touched on Amy's life but others as well as demonstrated by the donations you received and by those of us who shared in the day. It was a wonderful feeling that my son and his friend did not hesitate to come and do 108 sun salutations for Amy and her husband and by the end , my son (who has no interest in yoga at all) wanted his form to be corrected and to start doing sun salutations at home. They had an enjoyable morning, felt good to help out Amy and felt so welcomed into your home. Thank you Amy and Nancy for letting us share in your life.
Peace - Love and Happiness

The Myth of Sisyphus -
On a more humorous side of things this Myth of Sisyphus reminds me of the movie "Cast away" with Tom Hanks and his initimate and protective relationship with a soccer ball companion he named "Wilson" . Like Sisyphus, he carried the burdens and although there was very little dialog in that movie you could feel his anguish when "Wilson" was lost . His fears where transferred from him to Wilson and back. O.K. I'm drinking to0 much Green Tea!!

Dear Nancy:Your insight about "anger" came at the right time for me.My husband of 35 years announced that he wanted a "New Life and was seeing someone else".My feelings of Anger and Grief were at the top of the list.Your message helped me to deal with it .I actually went through each component and was able to identify with it.I am able to cope with my feelings and I am feeling much better about myself. Thank for presenting these insights to us ,they are timely and informative!

Dear Nancy,

Such a lovely website! It speaks volumes to your deep insight and compassion.

As for anger, something from Thay I'd like to pass along regarding anger. "Sometimes," he said, "the anger feels to hot and agitated to simply sit with it." Then, he lifted his arm out to the side as if putting it around the shoulders of a friend, and said, "So I take my anger out for some walking meditaion. I say, 'Anger, my friend, let's go for a walk.'"

For me, the deep message here is that we need to let go of our struggle against anger. Not suppressing, not venting, but simply allowing ourselves to feel it, know it. And in the clear knowing, transform it. It is said that when mindfulness is brought to anger it is transformed into wisdom!

love to you and my Long Island family!

The topic on Judgment is so true! How blue is the sky?? Wow!! If everybody got that "What a wonderful World it would really be" instead of all this petty crap. Life would be so much more meaningful and alot less stressful. People can really be so critical of the smallest, meaningless things. Sometimes I feel I'm walking on eggs around certainpeople and I can't really be myself. I hate that feeling of knowing yourbeing judged & character assinated. I try to stay away from people like that. Some of the old sayings are really true "if you can't say anything
nice then don't say anything or maybe it shoulld be if you can't think of
anything nice. Well none of us are perfect.

I received many comments on this week's topic: "Judgment." It is a topic that's inclusive; that's for sure! When we begin to watch the thoughts come and go in meditation, we begin to see that most of them can be categorized as memories (past), plans or rehearsals (future) or judgments. It can be insightful to note what kind of thought you are having as you let it go and return to your breathing. Check it out - see what you learn about yourself.

March 5, 2007

you share so much of yourself, and you are so giving-
I love "this week's topic" some food for thought--

gene

March 5, 2007

I have often struggled with this topic..It seemed iI could always the exception...some judgements are valuable , even essential.... like " not a good time to cross (the street), " "Thats enough" (food), or " this isn't the time for that"(comment).

Labeling the observation as good or bad seems to be the culprit. Investing negative energy in observations that are either beyond our control or not our bussiness is a factor as well. The fact that some judgements are essential doesnt
negate the fact that judgements can be harmfull to ourselves and others.

Marlene

March 4, 2007

The words on judgment this week came at a good time when I needed to be reminded again as always to focus on observing without judging. When I can remember to focus on myself and the moment, the judging is so much less likely to happen.
It was great to be back at yoga this week
Thanks
Be well
Marlene
